The Very Best Happy Hours in Portland

One of the great things about Portland is that we have many, many happy hours in this city. So if you’re having a rough work week and need to get out in the afternoon or evening, you have a lot of delicious choices.

There are too many happy hour spots to cover in one blog post, but here are some of the best of the best places to relax and get a drink and some tasty snacks.

The Knock Back

The Knock Back has many beverages for a dollar off during its happy hour, including old-fashioneds and margaritas. Don’t miss the phenomenal fried Brussels sprouts for $6 or the popcorn with paprika and cumin for just $2. If you want slightly upgraded popcorn, try the dirty popcorn for $4 to accompany your drink.

Mi Mero Mole

This casual taco shop, Mi Mero Mole, is all about the unique margaritas during happy hour. Every margarita is $2.50 or less, and there are some wild flavors to try. We recommend the plantain margarita with star anise, plantain, and cinnamon, or the tamarind margarita. There are some tasty food choices that are discounted during happy hour, including the taquitos, tostadas, nachos, and more.

Vintage Cocktail Lounge

If you’re feeling stressed, the delightfully laid-back atmosphere of the Vintage Cocktail Lounge is just what you need. There’s a great selection of happy hour drinks for just $6, including the delicious Hemingway daiquiri, the lavender cocktail with lavender tincture and vodka, and the Vintage 75 with gin and rhubarb-soaked bitters. You can also buy beer and wine for just $5 a glass and choose from food in $5, $3, and $2 categories.

Palomar

You’ll love the playful atmosphere of this pink-and-turquoise Cubin-inspired daiquiri bar called Palomar. Their happy hour features glasses of rosé for $6, $2 Modelos, and the house daiquiri for $7. Baked oysters for $10 are the perfect accompaniment to your drink. If you don’t want to spend that much, the $1 croquetas and 50-cent fritters are good, inexpensive choices.

Vendetta

Vendetta has everything you could want in a happy hour hangout, including delicious food, a variety of drinks, a killer outdoor area, and even shuffleboard. Don’t leave without getting the Motherboard Nachos with ground beef, beans, cheese, tomatoes, bell peppers, red onions, sour cream, and salsa.

Chill N Fill

This cool North Portland happy-hour spot has 30 taps of beer, wine, and cider. No matter what you like, you’ll find something you love. Even better, they all rotate, so you can try something new every time you come in. The atmosphere is cozy and perfect for settling in for a long chat with friends. Enjoy $1 off pints and $3 pints during late night happy hour.

The Old Gold

If you’re hankering for whiskey during happy hour, the Old Gold is one of the best spots you could go. Not only does it have a fabulous selection of whiskey, which are $1 off during happy hour, but it also has a delightful selection of sandwiches, including an elk burger and a buffalo-style cauliflower sandwich.

The Leaky Roof

The Leaky Roof is a Portland institution—it’s been in Goose Hollow since 1947. The friendly staff loves to chat with and get to know every single person who comes through the doors. Saucebox

Swine

This open, airy bar is a mixture of the Old West and Scandinavia. Swine has an extensive list of whiskey, including the acclaimed Lion’s Tail with Henry McKenna bourbon and lime. Don’t miss the root-beer-glazed pork or fried chicken sliders to go with your drinks (snacks start at $2, and we suggest the pork rinds and tasty deviled eggs).

Shift Drinks

Shift Drinks is dedicated to being a place where you can blow off steam from work and other stress of daily life. Happy hour at Shift runs all day and all night, every single day. Custom-brewed beer is $3. They have $5 cider and sake and $7 glasses of wine. Whiskey and cocktails are $5 to $7. The $6 Cubano is a favorite accompaniment to any of these drinks!
